children centre fire and emergency procedures
In the event of a fire
or an emergency incident, all persons/children in the centre are to make their
way to their nearest call point through their nearest point of exit.
Call points: Community room and consulting room = centre
car park
Nursery = school playground
Points of exit are

Community room =
Main
entrance door leading to the car park or fire door in the room and through the
side gate leading to the car park. Each group leader must ensure they collect the keys for the padlocked
gate from the office before the session starts.
Each group facilitator
must take a register and will be responsible for ensuring all persons are
present.
If any person is found
to be missing the facilitator must not re enter the building, they must report
it to the fire and rescue officer.
You must remain at the
call point until permission is given by the fire and emergency officer.
Nursery=
There are two main
exits located in the room; the main one to use is the door leading directly
from the lino area into the foundation stage playground.
The second option is
the door leading into the nursery garden, on your way through you would need to
collect the keys hanging in the door alarm and upon reaching the green gates
unlock the gate and continue through into the school playground.
The most senior member
of staff will be responsible for ensuring that all the registers and children’s
detail forms are taken to the call point, all young children will be placed in
a pushchair where the evacuation bag is kept at all times, the senior in the
baby room will be responsible for checking the cot room. (The staff write on
the door how many children are sleeping in their)
Staff must ensure that
the Children who sleep on the mats shoes and clothes go into the shoe bag and
is taken with the children.
The senior staff must
record on the register that a fire drill has taken place and that the children
and staff have been accounted for.
If any person is found
to be missing the senior must report it to the fire and rescue officer upon
their arrival.
The senior in charge
will contact the parents and chair of company to inform them of the situation.
A report must be
written up by the persons responsible for health and safety and ofsted must be informed and a copy of the report sent to
them.
