Manual handling
policy
As a company we are
involved in completing manual handling tasks everyday.
This policy aims to
minimise injury as a result of manual handling.
Manual handling takes
form in pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying objects.
The first rule when
approaching a manual handling task is to avoid it if possible, the next step
must be to asses it, the things you will nee to consider are:
- Other hazards around you
- Is it a two person task
- Is there any specialist equipment in place
to use ( equipment should be checked first)
Who is responsible
for?
- Carrying
out inductions for new staff Manager
- Reporting
unsafe or broken equipment everyone
- Carrying
out risk assessments associated with manual handling manager/ health and safety representative/
supervisor
- Making
sure equipment is serviced owners/
manager
- Training
of staff manager
- Checking
there is enough room to complete a task everyone
- Reporting
and Completing accident/ incident forms everyone
- Carrying
out and adhering to polices and procedures and legistlation
everyone
