Manual handling policy

As a company we are involved in completing manual handling tasks everyday.

This policy aims to minimise injury as a result of manual handling.

Manual handling takes form in pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying objects.

The first rule when approaching a manual handling task is to avoid it if possible, the next step must be to asses it, the things you will nee to consider are:

• Other hazards around you
• Is it a two person task
• Is there any specialist equipment in place to use ( equipment should be checked first)

Who is responsible for?

• Carrying out inductions for new staff Manager
• Reporting unsafe or broken equipment everyone
• Carrying out risk assessments associated with manual handling manager/ health and safety representative/ supervisor
• Making sure equipment is serviced owners/ manager
• Training of staff manager
• Checking there is enough room to complete a task everyone
• Reporting and Completing accident/ incident forms everyone
• Carrying out and adhering to polices and procedures and legistlation everyone
