ADMISSION CRITERIA
Matters taken into consideration
when deciding whether children can be offered places in the nursery include: A minimum of two sessions for any child is
required
1 Availability of spaces taking into account the staff/child ratios, the age of the child and the registration requirements (including payment of a registration fee)
2 Confirmation of the anticipated start date for children registered to attend
the nursery N.B. Watcombes Childrens Centre Nursery exercises the right to
offer a reserved place to another child if parents do not take up the place
within 2 weeks of the agreed start date (the registration fee is
non-refundable).
3 Receipt of completed applications and registration fees (priority is given to
those who have been on the waiting list longest).
4 The nursery’s ability to provide the facilities for the welfare of the child.
5 A child requiring a full-time place will usually have preference over one
requiring a part-time place.
6. If parents wish to change their contract with the nursery and reduce their
child’s attendance from full days to half days, places will be offered
according to availability. However, as stated above, priority will be given to
children requiring full days rather than part days. Although we will try to
honour requests for changes in hours of attendance, the needs of the business,
staffing and ratios will affect the manager’s decision about availability.
7. Extenuating circumstances affecting the child's welfare or his/her family.
8. Those already attending Watcombe Childrens Centre Nursery and children who
are siblings of those already attending Watcombe Childrens Centre Nursery.
Account
will also be taken of advice and information provided by outside agencies.
These include health professionals, social services, psychological services,
speech and language therapists, and so on.
Progress through the nursery
Children
with places already in the nursery will have no automatic rights to progress to
the next unit i.e. children in the 0-3 unit will not be guaranteed to progress
into the Foundation Unit. (We will indever to accommodate where possible)
Parents will need to inform us of this choice two terms before stating the days
and sessions required, they will then be contacted by the nursery a term before
they are due to start.

child who has been allocated a nursery placement has very significant
additional needs, we will need to ensure (within our available resources) that:

in terms of staffing and materials are available, in order that the child is
able to integrate fully, and to have equal opportunities to flourish;
