Dear Parent,
Watcombe Children’s Centre Nursery is in the grounds of Watcombe Primary School. Enjoying a magnificent setting, surrounded by wooded hills and open fields with nearby adjacent beaches.
It is on the northern boundary of Torquay, and directly facing the nursery is Brunel Woods and Brunel Manor, both closely associated with Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We are lucky to have a brand new building with top of the range fixture and fittings. Our secured outside play area is designed with the child in mind; we also have a secured covered play area if the weather is poor.
Our nursery is Ofsted registered, and is working in close Partnership with Watcombe Primary School and Torbay Early Years. We have a dedicated Nursery Teacher and Nursery Manager who are working in conjunction with each other in overseeing the learning and care for the 0-3s and the implementation of learning within the schools nursery for the 3-5s.
The nursery was built from funding from SureStart, and it has taken over three years of planning to get a purpose built centre with a bright and enjoyable nursery. A company was formed in 2006 to run the nursery in partnerships with other organisations. We are a ‘Community Interest Company’ which means that all profits go back into the nursery to improve the facilities for your child and will also allow us to put on excursions for our children in the nursery.
Community Interest Companies (CICs)
CICs are a new type of limited company designed specifically for those wishing to operate for the benefit of the community rather than for the benefit of the owners of the company. This means that a CIC cannot be formed or used solely for the personal gain of a particular person, or group of people.
